Méta-crâne§Interactive video sculpture dealing with the functioning of the unconscious Méta-crâne is an immersive and interactive sculpture which deals with the process of free association. Its size is 3m wide and 3.5m high. Méta-crâne is the technical reconstruction of a symbolic process that we all know well: free association. A network of neural activities is being simulated. It processes a certain amount of new events, past episodes, and ancient memories that are presented to the ''spect-actor'' within an immersive environment. This dream-like movie is created with the interactive editing of 1,000 video clips, 100 songs, and 80 lyrics extracted from Thomas Israël's video work of the last 5 years. Its purpose: transposing self-disclosure processes and creating new meanings within an interactive object. When the ''spect-actor'' enters the Méta-Crâne, he gradually perceives the inherent and emergent behavior of the installation. While the flow of audio-visual fragments sequenced around him tends to take into consideration his body rhythm – revealing his serenity, discomfort, etc. – he is not granted 1:1 control. |
